Volunteers

Volunteers are an integral part of the hospital. There are many volunteers that work at the hospital especially at St. Martha’s Place, assisting at meal times, outdoor excursions, special events, music, choir, birthdays and more. The Hospital Auxiliary devotes many hours to fundraising for equipment through events such as the annual garage sale and managing a hospital boutique.

IODE (Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire) is a group of like minded women from the community that provide regular visits and monthly High Tea to residents and patients at St. Martha's and Acute Care. They are involved in extensive fundraising and will sponsor a resident without family ties during Christmastime. More information about IODE can be found at:IODE

Volunteers are always needed as interpreters especially in Admitting where language barriers are often encountered due to Banff being a highly transient travel destination. Please inform admitting staff if you would like to be added to a volunteer interpreter list and be aware that we may try calling you out of the blue if we need your assistance!

To become a volunteer, please request an application package from the front desk staff. Return the completed forms to the front desk and we would be happy to forward it to our Volunteer Co-ordinator. Please note you will also be required to complete a security clearance and the appropriate request letter will be provided.

Our Volunteer Co-ordinator visits the Banff Community High school once a year to recruit high school volunteers for the Volunteen Program. If you miss this event please visit the hospital's front desk for a volunteer application.
